
Sew To Earn
Location: Durban, South Africa
After a successful project since 2015, we will be starting a post covid group
in January 2022, with the support of HORGE (stakeholder) to embark on teaching
both men and women basic sewing skills and how to earn a living from sewing
through additional business training.
Stakeholders involved:
1. Upskill – Training and Project management
2. FORGE – Social Cohesion dialogue and Peace ambassador trainings
3. Zoe-Life/FORGE Project - provides funding through IOM for 15 participants
4. Phephisa Survivors Network- self funded for 5 participants
Based on our previous experiences, we have decided to continue with equipping
our learners with sewing skills that will enable them to start their own
small businesses once done with our courses.
The Project Consists of The Following Modules:
- How To Make A Garment:
- Business Training (Based on similar SETA courses, but adjusted for sewing):

- Monthly Mentorship: (10-15 min per learner once a month)

The program is designed to run over 3months, with 1-2 sessions per week:
Sessions for sewing and Sessions for Business modules, Mentorship and Social cohesion.
Total number of sessions = 24.
